| Let
sense be clear about this - the rank and file NSE staff
do a fantastic dedicated job in caring for their residents and patients. The
job can be emotionally fraught, it sometimes requires long antisocial
hours and is not particularly well-paid. |
|
| |
|
|
| How
can we say that? - Quite easily, as several sense members
have worked for the NSE and/or have family members who have done so. |
|
| |
|
|
| So
although the NSE's proposal deals only with care standards for their
residents, we ought to consider the impact on the carers and other
staff as well. If the project were completed for its stated purpose,
live-in carers would obviously see improved accommodation, which is
good. Otherwise, things would not change too much. |

The uncertainty sense has in this area stems from the
extent of development work all around the site. This seems to go way
beyond the NSE's stated purpose and if we're reading this correctly,
there would be impacts on staff/carers, some beneficial and some otherwise. |

2004 Update
The planning application submitted is for a complete site raze and
rebuild. Care staff resident on site would clearly benefit
from improved subsidised housing (but they will presumably pay extra for it). Although, yet again, this periodic
capital renewal should be incorporated in the fee structure supporting
the NSE's care residents. |
